About this tool
Encrypt any text with AES-256-GCM directly in your browser. A random salt and IV are generated by default and the key is derived from your passphrase with PBKDF2 (100,000 iterations). The result is a single Base64 blob (salt + IV + ciphertext) that can normally be decrypted later with the same passphrase; if you override the iteration count in the advanced options, enter the same count when decrypting. No data ever leaves your device.
How to use
- Type or paste your text into the input box.
- Enter a passphrase you will remember.
- Click Encrypt to get a Base64 ciphertext, or paste a ciphertext and click Decrypt to recover the original text.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Encryption and decryption happen entirely in your browser.
What encryption is used?
AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your passphrase using PBKDF2-SHA256 with 100,000 iterations.
